Middle
East Marketing Company was established in the United
Arab Emirates in 1990 as an importer/ wholesaler/distributor
of toys, gifts and consumer products.
During the past 14 years MEM operations have expanded
to cover all of the Middle East countries. With a network
of regional branch offices, partner distributors and
local warehouses, MEM products are available in most
of the toys shops, department stores, duty free shops,
hypermarkets, gift shops, specialty stores, books and
stationary shops. In 2003 MEM moved its operations to
a larger office, bigger showroom and new warehouse facilities
to accommodate its expanding human resources needs and
growing product lines. In 2004 MEM management plans
to expand its consumer products by venturing into licensed
garments and foot ware as well as digital electronics
and travel baggage.
|
| MEM holds exclusive
distribution rights for over 20 well known world brands.
Distributing products that are influenced by the latest
trends in fashion, MEM management is always on the lookout
for the latest and trendiest product lines to add to its
portfolio. In 2003 MEM acquired the license to exclusively
distribute the product lines of one of the trendiest and
most fashionable new brand names in the world “Bratz”.
This year, and prompted by the success and strong comeback
of the licensed products, MEM invested in acquiring the
rights of distributing “Disney” licensed products
in the Middle East.
In 2003 MEM launched an aggressive marketing campaign
to introduce the “Bratz” brand in the Middle
East that included TV commercials, prints ads, billboards,
catalogues, special in-store displays and demonstration
units. This campaign was in conjunction with the rising
popularity and an aggressive PR campaign by the licensors
of “Bratz”. In 2004 MEM will launch an even
stronger campaign that will add special program sponsorship
on selected TV stations and dedicated brand areas into
the marketing mix. With a growing line of products from
MGA Entertainment, Rose Art, Spearmark International,
Accessory Network and Giochi Priziosi, Bratz branded
products will continue to be the market leaders in their
categories for 2004.
|
| In view of the global
demand for licensed products, MEM introduced many licensed
toys lines in the market from Disney, Warner Brothers,
Marvel and World Wrestling Entertainment. WWE action figures
and accessories from Jakks Pacific were reported to be
best sellers in their categories at various retail outlets.
Scooby Doo products from Equity Marketing continued to
have a sell through at the retail level supported by an
aggressive TV advertising campaign. Spiderman products
from MGA Entertainment continued to benefit from the global
popularity of Spiderman comics, cartoons and the motion
picture released on July 28, 2004. Disney properties have
always been very popular in the Middle East and are becoming
stronger in terms of toys and retail. Our line of Disney
products will consist of items from Jakks Pacific, What
Kids Want, Equity Marketing, MGA Entertainment, Giochi
Priziosi, Sandylion, Fusion Toys and Spearmark International.
The Disney licenses will include all of the movie properties,
Disney Classics, Winnie the Pooh, Princesses, Witches,
Kim Possible as well as Disney marketed properties such
as Baby Einstein, Power Rangers and the Bear in the Big
House. Our non licensed products also performed well in
2003. Sakar electronics and gadgets were leaders in their
categories and the baby dolls line from Gi-go Dolls was
number one in its category. Oregon Scientific ELP line
was a great success in the Levant countries and continues
to grow rapidly. For 2004 we will be introducing the newly
added Electronic lines which include the new Ferrari line
of electronic gadgets and other lines such as Digital
Cameras, Clocks, Weather Stations, Health Care products
and other lines. Travel Pro is the latest edition to our
growing lines of products. As part of business diversification
plan, we will be distributing the great line of Luggage
from Travel Pro, one of the leaders in travel luggage
in North America. |
