This CSR Initiative supports learning experiences for students at Business School, and Law School, as well as other educational institutions, that deepen understanding of new business practices and partnerships.


Qatar University - Internship Day

Salam International fully supports Qatar’s vision to build a knowledge based economy and appreciates the nation’s commitment to invest in the education sector. SIIL seizes the opportunity to extend a hand of support to multiple initiatives associated with the education field. In this regard, SIIL was delighted to participate in Qatar University’s 5th Internship Day. SIIL shared the potential opportunities for academic training and sponsorship which opened in their organizations. The Salam International HR Team who represented SIIL at the event welcomed applications for internship during the event. SIIL as always was pleased to be part of developing and mentoring a future generation of professionals who will serve Qatar.



Carnegie Mellon Qatar’s Business Fashion Show

Salam International extended its sponsorship to a youth driven project at the Carnegie Mellon University of Qatar. The project is built on an innovative concept of a fashion show that trains young people to dress smartly and appropriate for job interviews. The aptly titled “Business Fashion Show” is a celebrated, annual feature at CMU’s Pittsburgh Campus. With SIIL’s support the students of Carnegie Mellon University held Qatar’s version of the show on March 11, 2009 at CMQ Green Spine East. SIIL was happy to support young people’s initiatives.



CMUQ’s Professional Day Event

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar hosted Professional Day event attended by 41 top companies including Salam International. At the event, students were provided information about the opportunities available both as internships and careers.





Qatar University – Business & Economics College

As part of our policy of continuous support to the educational development in Qatar, Salam International presented Salam Excellence awards to two students from the Business & Economics College at Qatar University, as previously done in 2005 as well. The awards which consisted of financial recognition were granted during an awards ceremony that took place at Qatar University on April 18. The two awards certificates were presented to the fortunate students with the highest GPA at the female and male sections of the college: student Hiba Ali Abdallah and student Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassem Al-Thani.


Virginia commonwealth university - Palestinian Night

Salam International was the exclusive sponsor of the 2nd Annual Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Qatar Palestinian night. This event was held on November 9 to raise awareness of Palestine. Traditional dance such as the Dabkeh, a traditional Palestinian fashion show, Palestinian songs featured and a traditional dinner marked the occasion. Through these festivities, more than 400 guests celebrated the rich Palestinian culture and cause. Salam International commends VCU and the Al Dar Arabic Culture Club at VCUQ for keeping the Palestinian cause topical to the younger generation and indeed, the wider public.



Carnegie Mellon University – Qatar Campus

Salam International was asked to present a lecture for the Business students at Carnegie-Mellon University’s Qatar campus. The lecture discussed the various CSR programs the company has implemented in addition to a brief summary of the company’s experience in transforming from a family-owned business to a public shareholding regional company.

Omar Bin Al Khattab School

Salam International sponsored the Omar Bin Al Khattab School – Al Farouq Press Exhibition held at the school premises in May 2006. The sponsorship included the production of a school magazine, “Royal View” and an exhibition organized by the school’s English Department.
